## Download an icon in three steps

### Find the icon you need

Real-time search shows results as you type. Every family shares the same categories, so one search covers all of them.

### Pick the style and set the colour

Save your brand colours in Streamline and apply them to a whole set in one click, previewing before you export.

### Export as SVG or PNG

SVG stays editable in code and design tools. PNG bakes it in, ready for slides, documents, and email.

## Families with a line style

Core, Flex, Sharp, Plump and Ultimate. Free and pro counts per style.

### Line

The most standard style. Simple, clean outlines with uniform stroke widths, conveying clarity and neutrality, and adapting to light and dark backgrounds.

## Where these sets get used

### Where it is the wrong choice

Core Line contributes no personality by design, so a brand that needs the icons to carry identity will not get it here. At 64px and above the stripped-back construction starts to read as sparse rather than clean.

### Dashboards that should not have a point of view

Core is the Helvetica of icons: SaaS dashboards, admin panels, developer tools and settings screens, where the icons are infrastructure and the content is the thing. It works inside any design system without competing with it.

### Platforms other people build on

If third parties ship inside your product, an opinionated icon set becomes their problem as well as yours. Core stays neutral enough that a partner brand can sit next to it without a clash.

## Lineal is line

Lineal is the word Flaticon and several stock libraries use for what most design systems call a line or outline icon: a hollow shape drawn with a stroke and no fill. There is no difference in the artwork, only in the label.

The related term is lineal color, which means an outline with flat colour added behind it. On Streamline that shape lives in the Pop and Duo styles, so a search for lineal color lands there rather than under a name with lineal in it.

## Why line is still the default

The most standard style. Simple, clean outlines with uniform stroke widths. Conveys clarity and neutrality, and adapts to both light and dark backgrounds, which is why interfaces reach for it before anything else.

Its weakness is the flip side of the same property. An outline carries less visual weight than a fill, so it fades in an active state and thins out below about 16 pixels. Pairing it with a Solid style from the same family solves both.

## What free covers

No sign up required. Free downloads ask for attribution, a credit link wherever the icons appear, which Pro and Lifetime plans remove. That is 109,582 free icons across 34 families, with 333,032 more on Pro.

Yes, you can use them for all personal and commercial projects. Each icon, free or premium, is optimized for large-size exports, ensuring visual clarity and sharpness. So, you can avoid pixelation or blur.

## Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about this style.

### What are lineal icons?

Line icons: a hollow outline drawn with a stroke and no fill. Lineal is the term Flaticon and several stock libraries use. If you are searching a library and cannot find lineal, look for Line or Outline instead.

### What is the difference between lineal and lineal color?

Lineal is an outline on its own. Lineal color adds flat colour behind or inside that outline. On Streamline the second shape is what the Pop and Duo styles do, so that is where to look rather than under a lineal label.

### What stroke width do lineal icons use?

It varies by family and grid. Core uses 1px on a 14px grid, Ultimate Regular 1.5px on a 24px grid, and Plump 3px on a 48px grid. Streamline lets you adjust line thickness on Line styles before exporting, so the weight can be matched to your type.

### Are these icons free to download?

Yes. 109,582 icons across 34 families are free, with no sign up required. Free downloads ask for attribution, a credit link wherever the icons appear, which [Pro and Lifetime](https://www.streamlinehq.com/pricing) plans remove. See [SVG icons](/svg-icons.md) for the format itself.
