## Get an icon in three steps

### Pick one family and stay in it

A app's icons are seen together on every screen, so the family matters more than any single icon.

### Export SVG, then generate an icon font

FlutterFlow takes custom icons as a font: use its own SVG to Custom Icon generator, or FlutterIcon or IcoMoon.

### Upload under Theme Settings

Typography and Icons, then Custom Icons. Upload the .ttf and the .dart info file, and the set appears in the Icon widget.

## Core

The Helvetica of icons, on a 14px grid. Free and pro counts per style.

### Core

Core is the Helvetica of icons, stripped to its essential form with generous spacing. 998 free icons across 8 styles.

## Where Core gets used

### Where it is the wrong choice

Core Line contributes no personality by design, so a brand that needs the icons to carry identity will not get it here. At 64px and above the stripped-back construction starts to read as sparse rather than clean.

### Dashboards that should not have a point of view

Core is the Helvetica of icons: SaaS dashboards, admin panels, developer tools and settings screens, where the icons are infrastructure and the content is the thing. It works inside any design system without competing with it.

### Platforms other people build on

If third parties ship inside your product, an opinionated icon set becomes their problem as well as yours. Core stays neutral enough that a partner brand can sit next to it without a clash.

## Streamline Material

Google's geometry, redrawn for coverage and consistency.

### Streamline Material

Like Google's Material Icons, but better: redrawn from scratch for consistency. 999 free icons per style across 6 styles.

* **Material Sharp Line**: [999 free icons](https://www.streamlinehq.com/icons/material-pro-sharp-line-free), [5,181 pro icons](https://www.streamlinehq.com/icons/material-pro-sharp-line)

## Where Streamline Material gets used

### Material vocabulary without the gaps

Streamline Material follows Google's own geometry rules, redrawn for consistency and expanded well past the original set. It suits Android and cross-platform products where users expect Material conventions.

## Ultimate

The encyclopedia. Free and pro counts per style.

### Ultimate

1,000 free icons per set across 5 styles. Encyclopedic coverage, from common to rare icons. A neutral style that fits most use cases.

* **Ultimate Duotone**: [1,000 free icons](https://www.streamlinehq.com/icons/ultimate-duotone-free), [10,935 pro icons](https://www.streamlinehq.com/icons/streamline-duotone)

## Where Ultimate gets used

### Where it is the wrong choice

Ultimate is rounded, which reads as approachable rather than precise. Medical devices, aerospace and audit software usually want sharp geometry, because austerity is the trust signal there. Below 14px it also gives way to a family drawn on a smaller grid.

### One system across every product surface

Ultimate is the safest default when a single icon set has to cover navigation, settings, onboarding and empty states without imposing a personality. Over 16,500 icons means coverage stops being the thing that blocks a release.

### Design systems serving several teams

Where a component library is used by more than one product team, mixing sources is the failure mode. Ultimate is built to be the one place everybody pulls from, so the icons still match two years and four teams later.

## Custom icons arrive as a font, not as files

FlutterFlow expects a .ttf plus a .dart info file rather than a folder of SVGs, which is why the workflow runs through an icon font generator. FlutterFlow ships its own SVG to Custom Icon generator, and FlutterIcon and IcoMoon do the same job.

Once uploaded, the set appears under Custom Icons in the Icon widget alongside the built-in ones, so the rest of the build is unchanged.

## Why the default set runs out

Material Symbols covers common interface actions well and stops at the edges of your product. The icon you cannot find is never the back arrow, it is the one specific to what your app does.

Ultimate exists for that: encyclopedic coverage so the gap does not become a design problem halfway through a build. Streamline Material covers the same vocabulary as the default set with better consistency and wider coverage.

## Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about using these icons.

### How do I add custom icons to FlutterFlow?

Convert the SVGs into an icon font first, using FlutterFlow's own SVG to Custom Icon generator, FlutterIcon or IcoMoon. Then open Theme Settings, Typography and Icons, Custom Icons, and upload the .ttf font file and the .dart info file. The set then appears in the Icon widget.

### Can I use SVG directly in a Flutter app?

Yes, through the flutter\_svg package, with SvgPicture.asset for a bundled file or SvgPicture.network for a remote one. That route keeps the artwork as vector and is worth it for multi-colour icons, which an icon font cannot carry.

### Which icon set works best for an app?

One family used throughout. Streamline Material matches the Material vocabulary users already expect, with better consistency and wider coverage than the default set. Core is the neutral alternative, and Ultimate is the one to reach for when coverage is the constraint.

### Are these icons free to use commercially?

Yes, on both tiers. 109,582 icons across 34 families are free, with no sign up required, and the free tier asks for attribution, a credit link wherever the icons appear. [Pro and Lifetime](https://www.streamlinehq.com/pricing) remove that and unlock 333,032 pro icons. See [SVG icons](/svg-icons.md) for the format itself.
