It is the weight to reach for in a mobile tab bar, an active state, or anywhere the icon is glanced at rather than read. It also holds at very small sizes where lighter weights give up. A solid shape at 12 pixels still has a silhouette; a hairline at 12 pixels has almost nothing left. ## Weight is hierarchy, not decoration Bold works because it contrasts with something lighter.
